Hamilton Project (current):
October 2007:
Hamilton CIH first began with the Refugee projects, but further need was highighted by the Waikato 2020 group, who worked with Forest Lake and Patricia Avenue Schools to ascertain interest and need. The national 2020 Communications Trust added funds to the expertise from Waikato 2020 and donated computers from Wintec to begin a CIH at Pat Ave.
Since then we have begun 15 families from Forest Lake School and they are set to graduate in November 2007.
September 2007 - Forest Lake School:
Forest Lake School in Hamilton has a strong steering group with talents to cover the training and mentoring of their 15 CIH families. They are also supported by Waikato 2020 who initiated the new project.
June 2007 - Patricia Avenue School:
Waikato 2020 has been interested in helping Pat. Ave. School for the disabled for some time, offering to support training and technical assistance themselves. Wintec donated 10 recycled PC’s and 2020 Communications Trust is providing funds for Waikato 2020 to manage the rest of the project for 10 families. CIH would like to build on this with 10 more families in the 2007-08 year.
